The “Cat Distribution System” is the affectionate internet idea that cats have a way of finding their people. Cat Distribution Systems of America takes that joke seriously enough to ask: what if we helped? The name stays CDSA. The welcome extends to pets of all kinds.
The plural matters. There isn’t one magic pipeline. There are neighbors, dinner tables, volunteers, shelters, and the small acts that make a lasting home possible. Cats, dogs, and other companion animals need different kinds of care, space, and support.
CDSA is a proposed community initiative: bring those systems together, while leaving animal care, introductions, and adoption decisions with experienced shelters and species-focused rescues. Any future matching would follow their expertise and each animal’s needs.

Help interested adopters learn about existing shelters, species-focused rescues, and their own adoption processes. Any introductions would be controlled and shelter-led, guided by the responsible organization’s expertise and each animal’s comfort and needs.

Is CDSA an established charity?
CDSA is a proposed initiative in planning. Incorporation and tax-exempt status have not been established or verified. This site makes no claim that contributions would be tax-deductible, and collects no donations.
Can I adopt a pet through this website?
No. There are no adoption listings or applications here. If you are ready to adopt, contact an established shelter directly and follow its current process. CDSA’s proposed role is to help people discover that path.
How would introductions protect each animal?
The proposed model prioritizes controlled, shelter-led introductions in suitable settings, with species-specific expertise. It does not propose walking animals around in search of adopters. Cats, dogs, and other companion pets have different needs; the responsible shelter or rescue would decide whether and how an introduction is appropriate. Dinner gatherings can happen without animals present. Outdoor or found pets may already have owners; owner checks and established shelter protocols matter before any placement.
Why keep CDSA if the idea welcomes other pets?
Because the cat-inspired idea is where this started. Cat Distribution Systems of America—CDSA—keeps that playful identity while welcoming pets of all kinds. “Systems” recognizes the many people and care pathways behind a suitable home. CDSA remains a proposed community initiative.
What needs to happen before a pilot?
Confirm a willing shelter or rescue and its species-specific welfare requirements, choose an accountable organizer and any fundraising recipient, establish the legal and financial arrangements, and only then announce an event. No date or partner is promised yet.
